Prensa PATU 01.09.2023.- With more than 120 participants from 15 countries of Central America and the Caribbean, the Pan American high performance poomsae camp was inaugurated on September 1st, at the Hotel Holliday Inn Centro Histórico in Querétaro, Mexico, under the organization of the technical and administrative staff of the Pan American Taekwondo Union.

The LAE. Juan Manuel López Delgado, president of PATU, led the protocol acts together with Olympic medalist Iridia Salazar, president of the Sports Institute of Querétaro, Carolina Acosta, director of Quality of Life of Indereq, and Masters Giduk Gun (USA) and Arlen González (CUB).

Iconic figures of the current world poomsae as the 2023 world champion in the beach modality, Eric Gun (USA), the champions of the Central American and Caribbean Games San Salvador 2023 Elián Ortega (NCA), Alejandra Higueros (GUA), María Paula Salas (CRC), along with a select group of Pan American and international multimedalists such as Daniela Peña (PAN), Obed Martinez (MEX), Arelis Medina (PUR) and Ana Patricia Peña (DOM), among others, are part of this important training also aimed at coaches and referees of the area, as training with less than 50 days to celebrate the upcoming Pan American Games Santiago 2023, where poomsae will make its second historic appearance.

Master Giduk Gun, coach of the United States poomsae team, and the methodologist and coach of the Cuban national team, Master Arlen Gonzalez, are the two official speakers of this training that takes place in the region within the framework of the PATU 12 project, which focuses on technical-physical and theoretical issues on methodologies, planning and new trends in poomsae training.

"Since the beginning of the current administration we have been concerned about the development and growth of poomsae in the region. This time on the eve of the Pan American Games of Santiago 2023, we want to provide them with an adequate platform that in turn allows them to have the necessary tools for their preparation," said PATU president, Juan Manuel Lopez.

Masters of great hierarchy and trajectory in the Pan American and world poomsae as Sang Joon Moon (DOM) and Dennis Berdugo (NCA), are also in Mexican soil in a day of learning and teaching.

This activity is part of PATU's 2023 final calendar, and is part of the first group of training events in the area of poomsae, a modality that will be held almost at the same time as the South American Seminar in Argentina, from September 4-6, as a preamble to the Argentina Open G1.
